Rewarding Opportunities in a Dynamic Environment

With one of the most successful education systems in the world, Singapore offers some remarkable opportunities for education professionals.

Enhancing Singapore School English Language Programmes

Singapore is a very well-educated country with the highest literacy rate in Asia thanks to a desire for education and success. Competence and confidence in English, the major international lingua franca, is already a major asset to Singapore and is set alongside its unique national identity and cosmopolitan culture. The Singapore Minstry of Education has asked CfBT to manage a programme of enhancement of English Language Programmes in local secondary schools through the provision of up to 30 high calibre expatriate EL Teacher Consultants.

This programme aims to enhance and add significant value to the English language learning of students and transfer skills and experience to the teachers in local Secondary Schools which have been identified to be developed as centres of excellence for English Language. Under the leadership of a Project Director and Lead Teacher Consultants, the CfBT team will:

  • develop the skills and expertise of local EL teachers at the schools
  • develop and enrich the curriculum
  • raise EL standards among students.

About Singapore

With 4.5 million people, including almost 1 million expatriates, and a stable democratic government, Singapore is a very developed, cultured, multi-religious and desirable gateway to the Far East.

A small and developed country, Singapore has a very efficient and inexpensive transportation system of underground trains and buses and, as the country is quite small, you will never be more than an hour away from any destination.

Although the country is built-up there are also numerous parks and green spaces. You can enjoy cycling, swimming at the nearby beaches or public pools, and join expatriate clubs to play football, rugby and more. Golf is also quite popular, and the lively beaches of Malaysia are nearby. Almost all housing in Singapore is apartment style and houses and villas are rare. There are generally two kinds of housing - private apartments and Housing Development Board (HDB), the latter of which are subsidized by the Government and give you the opportunity to live alongside local residents, a choice being made by more and more expatriates.
